  • ‘Lorraine taught me piano so that I could finally complete my Grade 8.  She helped me with learning pieces, perfecting scales, mastering complex sight-reading pieces and being able to deal with the dreaded aural tests.  Her contributions to my exam success included devising a means to test every scale and repeat the less secure ones, as well as also teaching me to sing and pitch notes in order to complete the aural tests.  She also went above and beyond during the week of the exam scheduling a lesson prior to the exam, and time to try out the piano I would be using in the exam.  Thanks to her lessons, support and time, I passed.’  D Hargrave
  • ‘Lorraine Gutteridge has been my piano teacher for the last five to seven years. During this time we have become good friends. Lorraine is always very patient and calm and never criticises, only has positive ideas to help me.’ Angela Bone
  • ‘I would definitely recommend Lorraine Gutteridge as an excellent music teacher. She taught my two girls for several years after taking over their lessons from a previous teacher who at the time we were very sorry to lose.  She taught my older daughter Catherine the keyboard during her years at secondary school encouraging her to work hard to achieve up to Grade 4 (with Merit). Catherine loved the time she spent with Lorraine. She was a very caring, encouraging and enthusiastic teacher who made keyboard playing fun. She also supported and helped Catherine through her difficult GCSE years, providing valued guidance and advice to help her compose and perform a piece of music for her GCSE work.  In fact when Lorraine heard that a group of older students were looking for a keyboard player for a band they were setting up she recommended Catherine and this was the start of many jamming evenings and gigs that made all Catherine’s hours of practice so worthwhile. This adventure gave Catherine the confidence boost that she, a shy, insecure girl so needed to bring out the best of her and I will be ever grateful to Lorraine for this.My younger daughter Becky was not so enthusiastic to learn the keyboard but Lorraine still managed to encourage her with fun lessons. She too managed to achieve a couple of grades. Even though she stopped her lessons in year 10 I still feel that Lorraine’s enthusiasm kept her going as long as she could and gave her a love of music playing.Although both girls now play the classical guitar more than the keyboard (currently working toward grade 8 and 7) I am still grateful to Lorraine for all the encouragement she gave them in the earlier years and would definitely recommend her as an excellent keyboard teacher’. • ‘Lorraine has taught me to play the keyboard for nearly five years now and with her help I have been able to work my way from scratch through several grades, most recently grade 6 at Distinction, so that I am now preparing to take my grade 8 exam. She is a lovely, encouraging and supportive teacher who makes learning the instrument fun.’ F Mugford (UPDATE – After starting the keyboard as a beginner 5 1/2 years ago Freya successfully passed her Grade 8 in July 2018 with Merit!)
